My approach

I am adept at tailoring my approach to the unique needs of each of my clients. My approach may include psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and coaching.

  • Psychodynamic therapy or “talk therapy” provides insight into the influence that past is having on the present. This awareness allows us to get to the root of issues and create lasting change.
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy helps to identify the thoughts or belief systems that are resulting in certain behaviors. By debunking distorted beliefs, we can positively adjust our behaviors.
  • Mindfulness techniques aid in regulating emotions and maintaining balance regardless of circumstances. These techniques help us manage our emotions so that we are not consumed by them.
  • Coaching is solutions-focused and goal oriented. Clear and attainable goals are set and barriers are identified and addressed along the way.

MY philospohy

Three core tenets guide my practice:

  • You are the expert in your own life. I am the expert in the work. We are partners on this journey.
  • The unique nature of individuals results in unique paths to growth and change. Lasting change occurs at your own pace.
  • The therapeutic relationship is a powerful agent for change. Through good therapeutic work it is possible to create and live your best life.

MY VALUES

As a licensed clinical social worker, I uphold a professional code of conduct based on six core values

  • service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and  competence

my motivation

Good therapeutic work changed my life. I believe it can change yours, too. I am passionate about empowering people with the insights and skills they need to alleviate distress and experience the best versions of themselves.

My journey into the helping profession took me to study human behavior and mental health at New York University where I earned a Masters in Social Work (MSW). My training took place in various clinical settings including inpatient hospitalization, outpatient community-based sober living, and a psychoanalytic institute. I treated individuals with a diverse range of issues and facilitated groups in a variety of topics including Wellness, Conflict Resolution, Relapse Prevention, Mood Disorders, and Trauma Recovery. Upon successful training, I achieved the credential of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Prior to entering the mental health field, I held a variety of positions in corporate America. I received a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Science (BS) from Villanova University.

Volunteering includes crisis hotline work with The Samaritans of New York and art therapy work with underserved youth at Free Arts of NYC.
